Handling Waste

Your mower does a good job, but it leaves behind a lot of clippings that can damage the lawn. Some of the most popular accessories help you handle that.

Mulching Kit

A mulching kit is great for large or commercial properties. It consists of a special blade and a plug to direct the clippings into it. The grass clippings are then mulched and chopped into fine bits, effectively minimizing the damage they do. They might even become good fertilizer for the grass, since they contain all the nutrients the lawn needs!

Material Collector

Mulching can be good for the yard, but it makes it risky to lay in the grass and relax. A collection kit can be affixed to the back of your mower to add a chute, hopper, and storage container to the machine. This will collect any clippings or other waste your mower produces, keeping your lawn clean and neat.

Brush Guard

Your mower was a significant investment, and it pays to protect it. A brush guard or bumper can be installed to keep branches and debris from dinging the front of your lawn more, which is especially important for models with radiators at the front. Stray branches can slide through the grating and do serious damage, but a brush guard will prevent that.

Lights

Sometimes it’s hard to mow when the sun is high, either because of other time constraints or because it’s just too hot. Adding lights to your mower can allow you to extend your work day earlier and later in the day. You can even potentially upgrade to LED headlights, if the manufacturer doesn’t recommend against it.

Canopy

Speaking of the hot sun, it can be nice to get a little shade, but you don’t want to plant shade trees all over your lawn. The easiest solution is to install a canopy or a sun shade on your lawn mower. They’re inexpensive, simple to install, and can keep you from overheating while you’re getting your chores done. It’s not quite an enclosed cab with climate control, but it’s the next best thing!

We hope these ideas help you take your mower to its fullest potential. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to see the lawn mowers, accessories, and parts we have available, contact us at Burrows Tractor. We proudly serve the people of Oregon and Washington—let us serve you today!
